From Portland, take 99E to Jennings, east on Jennings past Oatfield, turn right (south) on Valley View Road, two blocks down and there you go --at Nick Shannon Memorial park. Kid-friendly event features hot dogs, playground, sandbox, activities, the aforementioned under-defended fire truck, and many many more diversions to keep your mind off of all that pesky acoustic scat-rock over there under the tree. Donations to the cause welcome. UPDATE: Cody will be joined by percussionist Bill McDonald (of Portland's Budget Airlines) for the duration of his set. Cody waxes, "he's like the Derek Sanchez of Portland --unflappable, solid, no-rehearsal-necessary groove machine. Plus his drum is made of metal." |
